PUBLIC DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM

Every month Commissioner, F&CS allocates food grains and sugar to each district. In turn the Deputy Commissioner, F&CS issues taluk wise sub-allotment of food grains and sugar. For Bangalore IRA region, Addl. Director F&CS give the allotment orders.

On the basis of the above allotment orders the District Managers of KFCSC obtains Release orders from FCI after paying for the value of grains. KFCSC lifts the food grains from the issue points of FCI through approved Transport Contractors. Similarly sugar is lifted from sugar factories through KFCSC approved transport contractors. To ensure quality, food grains are tested with reference to Fair Average Quality ( FAQ ) standard.

The lifting of food grains from FCI and issue to retailers is done keeping in view the following time schedule fixed by the FCI.

1.   KFCSC lifts 100% food grains allotted under AAY and BPL by 10th of every month. APL and EBPL food grains are lifted before 20th of every month depending upon the requirement.

2.   Retailers lift allotted food grains from Wholesale point before 15th of every month and distributed to the card holders before 25th of every month.

For BPL card holders i.e. people Below Poverty Line, the food grains are lifted by the approved contractors of Deputy Commissioner under the supervision of officials from F&CS department. The food grains are delivered to Fair Price shops situated in the rural areas. For Card holders other than BPL, the food grains are lifted by the concerned Fair Price Shops from wholesale points after paying for the cost of grains. To ensure correctness of weighment the corporation has installed electronic Weighing Scales in the whole sale depot.
